Your chart of accounts is the backbone of the system — every transaction eventually lands in it. Corevia ships a standard structure so you do not have to design one from scratch.
Accounts are grouped by type: assets (cash, bank, receivables, stock), liabilities (payables, loans), equity (capital, retained earnings), income and expense. Group accounts are headings only; you post to the accounts underneath them.
A few codes are worth knowing because other parts of the system look for them: 1110 Cash, 1120 Bank, 1130 Accounts Receivable, 3100 Capital and 3200 Retained Earnings.
You can add your own accounts at any time from the Chart of Accounts page. Two rules keep your books clean: give each account a code that fits the existing numbering, and never post directly to a group account. If you are unsure whether something is an expense or an asset, ask whether the benefit is consumed now (expense) or lasts beyond this year (asset).
